We are now in a position where we can update interested parties regularly on the status of the Village Green / Centre project as the next stage of this exciting project commences.
You will recall that the Southern Planning Committee of Cheshire East Council (CEC) approved the Planning Application submitted by The Wellcome Trust in early February 2016.
They were unanimous in their approval decision and very complementary in comments made about the scheme during the meeting. This decision was confirmed with a final legal agreement on January 7th 2017.

The Community Hall:-

A great deal of time has been spent with residents, the social committee, neighboring parish Councils, users etc. on the requirements of the hall resulting in an initial design drawing prepared in conjunction with the Architects from Bidwell’s.

This has been on the website for over 6 months.?

Over the last 12 months the architectural work and drawings have been carefully migrated to the software being used by the local Hall building specialist company as a subcontractor to Duchy Homes. In this period we have continued to gather input from within the Parish and the Social Committee as well as from neighboring Parishes and ACRE. We have greatly benefited from FM expertise in reducing heating and maintenance costs. Furthermore we have been assisted re plans for projection, lighting, sound etc. from specialist event companies

Looking to the future:-

If we look to the future when all work is completed, the Hall, car park, new Village Green, Orchard etc., (all the new community facilities) will have been transferred to Parish Council ownership protecting and significantly enhancing the assets of the Parish. This stage we anticipate will be early to mid-2020.

The current aim continues to be the establishment of a Charitable Management Trust to manage all council assets and facilities of this type. This is being looked at in detail and advice is being taken from other Council Advisors, Solicitors etc.

Progress Updates will continue to be issued from time to time as the work continues.

You will recall that the Southern Planning Committee of Cheshire East Council (CEC) approved the Planning Application submitted by The Wellcome Trust in early February 2016.

They were unanimous in their approval decision and very complementary in comments made about the scheme during the meeting.

A short newsletter was send out in March to the community with an update on The Village Green Project.

A wider based Alpraham Village Plan was also outlined in this newsletter. We are not yet working on this project but have planned the main components and members of the Community have come forward to join the team.

If we look to the future (when all the work is complete), the Village Hall, car park, new Village Green, Orchard etc., (all the community facilities) will have been transferred to Parish Council ownership.

The current aim is to establish a charitable management organisation to manage it all. This is yet to be looked at in detail and advice is clearly being sought from Council Advisors, Solicitors etc.

We will develop a range of policies to encompass typically the following:-

Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Conflict of Interest, Children and Vulnerable Adults, Data Processing etc.

Updates will be issued from time to time as the work progresses.

This section will be added to when more work has been undertaken on the possible uses of the Hall / Pavilion, recreation ground etc.

We do anticipate that the hall will be used as a Village Theatre, Village Cinema and for Live Theatre by Satellite.

In addition we see a whole range of activities from exercise and sports to children’s parties and perhaps weddings.

We are hopeful that we are successful in being awarded funding for a Play Zone for younger children etc.

In addition junior football teams and pitches are being investigated.

And then there will be benches on the Village Green…….
